Work programme
Our project is aimed at applying research in the real world to influence policy and to change the ways things are done. In other words, we are highly focused on producing impact via applied research. However, this cannot be achieved on its own. We need robust knowledge, indicators and assessments obtained by undertaking fundamental research. We must ensure that the systems and agent based modelling is based on high quality data and thus enable understanding of complex systems to allow their management.
Our trans-disciplinary, participatory approaches integrate design co-creation in the production of newly integrated context-appropriate problem solving approaches. These innovations will lead to behavior change in the implementation phase. The overarching goal is for four city-regions across three continents to demonstrate that it is possible

Each ULL has a different set of constraints: agencies, focus areas, power structures, land ownership, regulatory frameworks, data availability, commercial opportunities, yet each shares the same goal, has strongly overlapping capabilities, and starts with a significant public-private nucleus. Inter-relationships common to each city will be considered, across multiple levels of governance. A key challenge in each is to identify which variables are outside stakeholder’s control and which are inside.
The following work packages will help us to address these challenges
