Royal Geographical Society Annual International Conference 2021, Aug 31-Sept 3.
The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) is the learned society and professional body for geography. Geography, by its very nature, looks outwards and acts inclusively. As an independent, self-financing learned society and professional body, so does the RGS-IBG. We are absolutely committed to the importance of international collaboration in research, scholarship, teaching and field science and the value of sharing ideas, understanding and perspectives widely. The annual conference is international in nature and outlook. Each year we welcome hundreds of colleagues from around the world, with a third of attendees coming from outside the UK. We are committed to continuing this open and outward-facing approach, and particularly welcome contributions by international delegates to the conference programme.

Heuristics and Decision-Making in the Circular Economy – Taking steps towards a more sustainable future, February 25 2021
Transitioning towards a more sustainable future requires overcoming our current linear approach to resources use. However, transitioning to a Circular Economy (CE) is not unproblematic and comes with its own challenges. In this workshop, we will present a Circular Decision Tree developed at DRIFT, a leading Dutch research institute in the field of sustainable transitions. We invite you to reflect with us on the uncertainties, paradoxes and dilemmas of decision making in CE transition, and to learn and discuss about the proposed heuristic, and to identify its potential practical benefit within your and other fields.
